How many cards will the Evolis R5F202E100 ribbon print?
The Evolis R5F202E100 YMCKO ribbon prints up to 200 full-colour card sides.
If you are printing single-sided cards, this means up to 200 cards. If you are printing colour on both sides of the card, each side counts as a print.
What does YMCKO mean on the Evolis R5F202E100 ribbon?
YMCKO stands for Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, Black and Overlay.
The yellow, magenta, cyan and black panels create the full-colour design, while the clear overlay panel adds a protective layer over the printed card.
Can I use this ribbon for double-sided cards?
Yes, but this ribbon prints one full-colour side at a time.
If you have a double-sided Evolis Primacy 2 printer and want to print full colour on the front and black text or barcodes on the reverse, the Evolis R6F203E100 YMCKOK Ribbon may be more suitable.
What ribbon should I use if I only need to print in black?
If you are only printing black text, barcodes, QR codes or simple line artwork, you do not need a full-colour YMCKO ribbon.
For black-only printing on the Evolis Primacy 2, Zenius 2 Classic or Zenius 2 Expert, the Evolis RCT223NAAA BlackFLEX Ribbon may be a better option. It prints up to 2000 cards and is more cost-effective for black-only card printing.
When should I choose a YMCKOK ribbon over a YMCKO?
If you have a double-sided printer and are printing full colour on the front of your cards and black-only on the reverse, it is much cheaper to do so using a YMCKOK ribbon.
The extra ‘K’ on the end of the code stands for an extra black panel that prints on the reverse of the card at the same time as full colour prints onto the front.
Will a YMCKOK ribbon work on a single sided card printer?
No, it will only work in a double-sided card printer.

The Evolis R5F208E100 YMCKO ribbon prints up to 300 cards, but it is listed for the Evolis Primacy 2 only. If you are using a Zenius 2 Classic or Zenius 2 Expert, use the Evolis R5F202E100 ribbon instead.
Why should I shred my printer ribbon after use?
If you’re using a Direct to Card printer (which the majority of printers on the market are), the ribbon retains an imprint of the data on the card after printing.
So, if you’re printing an ID card with a photograph for example, all of this data will be left behind on the ribbon afterwards. That’s why it’s really important to shred your printer ribbon securely when you replace it with a new one for data protection.
Will any of these ribbons work with my printer?
No. It’s really important you check the compatibility of each printer ribbon to check it will work with your specific model.
Don’t assume that a Magicard ribbon will work in all Magicard printers for example, it will be designed to work in a specific printer model only.
