Material Guide
PVC
Our PVC cards are made from quality, durable plastic and are available with a Matt or Gloss finish. Unless otherwise stated, our PVC cards are 720 microns, the standard thickness of a credit-card.
Biodegradable PVC
Our Biodegradable PVC cards contain an additive that means they will degrade and wear down in microbe rich environments such as biologically active landfill. In terms of print finish, you won’t notice much difference to a regular PVC card.
Unless otherwise stated, our Biodegradable PVC cards are 720 microns, the same thickness as a standard credit-card. They can also be recycled where facilities exist, but not in standard household recycling.
100% Recycled PVC
Our 100% Recycled PVC cards are made from 100% recycled plastic (R-PVC), with a 100% recycled film applied for durability. This post-consumer recycled PCV material is sifted, washed, sterilised and separated to remove contaminants, resulting in a quality material.
Unless otherwise specified, they are 720 microns, the same thickness as a standard credit-card. They can also be recycled in the correct facilities.
Paperboard
Where paperboard is available, this is made from 270gsm paperboard manufactured in the UK from an FSC-certified supplier. They feel a little thinner than a standard credit card.
Our paperboard cards are fully recyclable after use in your standard household recycling.

To help you prepare, we will need:
- A high-resolution file of your logo (ideally an EPS) and any other design assets.
- A note of the colour(s) you want to use (Pantone or CMYK breakdowns) or a graphic to match to.
- A note of the font you want to use. If it’s a non-standard font, we’ll need a copy of this too.

Our custom Magstripe key cards are designed for use with compatible magnetic stripe hotel door lock systems. Choose from durable PVC and a selection of more sustainable materials, including recycled PVC, biodegradable PVC and wood options.
Your hotel key cards can do much more than simply provide room access. Use the reverse of the card to promote hotel facilities, restaurant opening times, spa services, Wi-Fi details, special offers, social media accounts or a QR code linking guests to useful information.

Will these Magstripe Hotel Key Cards work with my door lock system?
Magstripe key card compatibility depends on the door lock system and the type of magnetic stripe it requires. If you are unsure, we recommend testing a sample card before placing your order.

What is the difference between LoCo and HiCo Magstripe?
LoCo magnetic stripes are suitable for many hotel key card applications and an unencoded LoCo stripe is included as standard with these cards.
HiCo magnetic stripes are more resistant to accidental erasure and are available as an optional upgrade. If you are unsure which type your system requires, please contact us before ordering.
Will your generic magstripe Hotel Key Cards work with my system?
Our off-the-shelf packs of magstripe key cards work with most hotel keycard systems that use magstripe, including Ving and Onity.
If in doubt, ask us for a sample to test.
Can you encode the magnetic stripe for me?
Yes. Magnetic stripe encoding is available as an additional option.
If your cards need to be supplied encoded, please contact us with the requirements of your hotel door lock system so we can confirm the correct specification and provide a quote.
Can I test a Magstripe card before placing a full order?
Yes. If you would like to check compatibility with your hotel door lock system first, we can send you a sample card to test.

Yes. Alongside traditional PVC cards, we offer more sustainable material options including recycled PVC, biodegradable PVC and wood.

Can I add QR codes, personalisation or special print finishes?
Yes. Your Magstripe hotel key cards can be customised with additional features including QR codes, individual names or numbers, spot varnish, metallic print, signature panels and other bespoke finishes.
Some options carry an additional charge. Contact us for a custom quote.
How long do custom Magstripe Hotel Key Cards take to produce?
Our standard turnaround time is approximately 10 working days from artwork approval, rather than from the date the order is placed.
A Fast Track service may also be available from approximately 5 working days. Please contact us before ordering if you have a specific deadline.
How do I send you my artwork?
You can upload your artwork when you place your order, or complete your order and send the artwork to us afterwards.
Please follow our Artwork Guide when preparing your files. If you would prefer us to prepare the artwork for you, our Artwork Service is also available for an additional charge.

These cards are designed for hotel systems that use a magnetic stripe.
