A move to Bamboo Door Signs for The Venues Collection
The new Do Not Disturb signs complement their bamboo hotel key cards that are in use across all five locations
About The Venues Collection
The Venues Collection has five meetings and conference venues across the UK, with over 205 event spaces and over 1010 bedrooms.
There’s a huge variation in style and character across the five locations. Each venue is unique, yet across the Group there is a shared commitment to innovation in sustainability, which reaches all the way to the Do Not Disturb signs hanging on the doors.
MAKING A SUSTAINABLE STATEMENT TO GUESTS
The new Do Not Disturb signs were designed to complement the Venue Collection’s sustainable Bamboo RFID Hotel Keycards, which the Group moved over to in 2023. The new Door Hangers are laser engraved just like the keycards, and made from Bamboo, one of the fastest growing plants on earth, and therefore one of the most sustainable.

CUSTOMER REACTION
“We were one of the first Groups to swap our plastic hotel keycards over to Bamboo RFID keycards which we’re really proud of, and they’ve been really positively received by guests. So, when we saw that The Card Network could also do matching Bamboo Door Signs, we wanted to adopt these too.
“We were having to replace the old paper signs several times a year as they could get quite dog eared. We now have a longer-lasting, sustainable Bamboo hanger that encapsulates the ethos of the Venue Collection and looks super smart hanging on our doors. Thanks to Sue and the Team for helping us take another small step towards our sustainability goals.”

SETTING THE BENCHMARK IN SUSTAINABILITY INNOVATION
The Venues Collection is recognised as being at the forefront of sustainability innovation within the events, training and hospitality industries. Their Future First Charter demonstrates their strong commitment to sustainability and environmental leadership, with significant achievements across Zero Waste to Landfill, Renewable Energy Generation and Static Aerated Compost Systems, to name but a few.
The Collection was the first in the UK to introduce carbon labelling as a standard on menus. They also recently won an award for being the first UK venue chain to remove dairy from all dessert menus, a move that helps reduce greenhouse gases associated with dairy farming.
