CardPresso is being replaced by ID-ALL: should you upgrade your Card Software now?

CardPresso End of Life: What Existing Users Need to Know

CardPresso end of life means the software is being phased out, with new licences ending in July 2026, updates stopping in 2027, and support ending in 2028. If you currently use CardPresso Card Design Software, you can continue using it for now, but upgrading to ID-ALL is the recommended long-term solution.

CardPresso ID Card Software is being phased out and replaced by ID-ALL. If you currently use CardPresso as your card design and/or encoding software, especially if you’re looking to upgrade to a higher edition, now’s the time to consider upgrading.

What does CardPresso end of life mean?

In simple terms, CardPresso ID Card Software is reaching the end of its supported lifecycle. Existing users can continue using their software for now, but the platform is being phased out, which means new features, updates and technical support will stop over time.

CardPresso end of life timeline:

  • End of June 2026: New CardPresso licences will no longer be available to buy
  • June 2027: Bug fixes and software updates will stop
  • June 2028: Technical support will end

Your software won’t suddenly stop working overnight. It just means that as time goes on, you won’t be able to benefit from new features, get security tech upgrades or access support if something goes wrong.

Why is ID-ALL replacing CardPresso?

ID-ALL is made by the same company as CardPresso, and CardPresso continues to be the parent company. It's basically the new and improved version that’s been updated to meet the increased demands of today's users.

It’s been upgraded and had a polish: it’s easier to work with, easier to scale, and better suited to future requirements.

You’ll also find it’s more streamlined and intuitive. Crucially, it’s been developed with an eye to future developments such as cloud issuance, and to be compatible with ID card printers with advanced security features. Although cloud card issuance isn’t currently available, it’s on the roadmap.

What ID-ALL gives you that CardPresso doesn’t

Firstly, moving to ID-ALL doesn’t mean starting again – your existing CardPresso files will open in ID-ALL, so you won’t have to rebuild every design from scratch.

If you already use CardPresso, the idea of changing software can sound like hassle. In reality, the move to ID-ALL is designed to be a smooth handover.

  • The editions are clearer and easier to match to real-world usage
  • The software is positioned for ongoing updates and support rather than winding down
  • ID-ALL has been created to work with new ID card printer models, which have more advanced security features than older models
  • The software is ‘cloud-issuance-ready’; meaning that cloud-based capabilities are on the roadmap
  • You can choose an edition based on where your needs are heading

CardPresso end of life: what should you do next?

If you already use CardPresso, and you’re currently happy with the edition you’re using, you don’t need to act straight away as your software won’t stop working overnight. However, it is being phased out, so you may want to consider upgrading now.

However, if you’re outgrowing your existing edition of CardPresso and are looking to upgrade to the next edition soon, don’t buy this in CardPresso: make the move to ID-ALL.
