RFID Material Guide
PVC
Our regular PVC RFID cards are made from quality, durable plastic and are available with a Matt or Gloss finish. They are 820 microns, which is a bit thicker than a standard credit card to contain the chip.
Please note that the technology chip contained within the card is not recyclable or biodegradable.
Biodegradable PVC
Our Biodegradable PVC RFID cards contain an additive that means they will degrade and wear down in microbe rich environments such as biologically active landfill. In terms of print finish, you won’t notice much difference to a regular PVC card.

85% Recycled PVC
Our 85% Recycled PVC cards are made with at least 85% recycled plastic for an ECO alternative. They offer the same print quality and durability as regular PVC.

Bamboo and Wood
Our Wood RFID cards are available in Bamboo, Beech, Birch, Black Walnut and Cherry. They are sourced from an FSC-Certified supplier.
As wood and bamboo is a natural product, there will be differences in the grain and print finish/engraving between each card. This is what makes them unique.
The cards themselves will naturally degrade over time, however the chip within the cards is not recyclable.

To help you prepare, we will need:
- A high-resolution file of your logo (ideally an EPS) and any other design assets.
- A note of the colour(s) you want to use (Pantone or CMYK breakdowns) or a graphic to match to.
- A note of the font you want to use. If it’s a non-standard font, we’ll need a copy of this too.

If you need your cards to last for a long time, or they're going to be subject to a lot of handling, moving to a material like wood or paperboard may not be an option. But that doesn't mean you can't source ECO friendly plastic cards for your project.
You won't compromise on quality with these cards - expect the same colour richness and print quality as a regular plastic card.

What’s the difference between biodegradable and recycled?
Biodegradable plastic cards are made with an additive that makes them degrade over time, provided they are in a microbe rich environment such as biologically active landfill.
Recycled cards are made from a proportion of recycled plastic material (the amount depends on the make-up) but will not degrade over time.
Do you do an off-the-shelf blank RFID card that’s recycled?
Yes. Our ECOCARD-85 is made from 85% recycled plastic and has a 1K RFID chip.
Can plastic cards be recycled?
How and where plastic cards can be recycled depends on what material the card is made from.
Virgin plastic (PVC) can be recycled where facilities exist, but not in standard household waste. This is usually done through specialist recycling providers that process the plastic into pellets that can be moulded into new products.
If the card is made from PET material (the same that’s used in plastic bottles) they can be recycled in normal household waste. These cards will usually be clearly labelled as PET.
Plastic cards made with a biodegradable additive will naturally degrade in microbe rich environments such as biologically active landfill.
Bear in mind that if the cards if a contactless card, the RFID chip will not be recyclable, and if there is special foiling or added features on the card, these will likely not be recyclable either.
Can you set my artwork for me?
Yes. We offer a Design and Art working service for £25.
You can select this when buying our products online or give us a call for more information.
How long will it take to get my cards?
Unless otherwise stated, our standard turnaround time is 10 working days from card proof approval.
When you've signed off the card proof we will get your printed cards to you within 10 working days.
This doesn't apply to printed RFID cards or wood cards, and to highly bespoke orders (for example where bespoke foiling is required).
These will take a little longer. Please ask for details when placing your order.
I’m in a rush, do you do fast track?
Where available, you can upgrade to our Fast Track 5-working day turnaround for an extra £50.
Again, this is 5 working days from sign-off of the card proof.
Please remember this doesn't apply to printed smart cards or highly bespoke orders. Please check with us before ordering.
