What’s the difference between the green, red and amber Switch2 fobs?
In terms of the technology, there is no difference at all between the green, red and amber fobs.
Companies use the different colours to provide a visual means of demarcating access to different areas of the building.
For example, green fobs may be given to users who only have access to Area A, whereas amber fobs could be given to users who have access to Areas A & B. Red fobs could be given to users who have access to Areas A and C, and so on
In other words, you can use the colour coded fob system to control different user rights.
Issuing a fob on a switch2/compact system<
Each fob comes with a corresponding shadow card. The keyfobs are provided in plastic pouches to keep each fob and card together
DO NOT MIX UP THE PAIRS! Your security will be compromised if the unmarked cards become mixed up.
Give the keyfob to the user. Then keep the shadow card in the wallet with the user’s details.
Adding another pack of fobs to an existing switch2/compact system
To add a new pack, you will need BOTH the enrolment card from an existing active pack AND the enrolment card from the new card pack.
- First present the ORIGINAL enrolment card (from an existing active pack) to the reader. The reader will beep and the LEDs will light up.
- Then present the enrolment card from the new pack. Again the reader will beep and the LEDs will light up.
All users are now valid. Return the enrolment cards to the packs.
How do I bar a user on my switch2 or compact system?
If a fob has been lost or stolen, or an employee has left and not handed their fob back in, you will want to block it from the system to prevent unauthorised access.
Locate the matching shadow card. Present it to EACH reader on your site. This will bar the user key fob.
If you need to revalidate a barred key fob, you can do so by presenting an active enrolment card followed by the user key fob to the reader.
