A key fob is similar to a keycard and is a compact security device with an authentication built-in used to control the access to data or private areas. It is commonly a security code placed inside a keyfob which allows it to operate. It gives an extra level of security as the physical object is needed to be swiped usually concurrently with a password or personal identification number (PIN), which changes periodically. Using a two-factor authentication means that even if the keyfob is lost or stolen it still can not be used and if the password is stolen or guessed it will be of no use without the fob.

A key fob is compact making it practical and can be attached to a key ring or badge reel making protect of the item easier. This can be used for all the similar services listed in our keycards section. This invention generally relates to vehicle security systems but has increasingly being developed in other areas of security due to its popularity and success in the car security market. More particularly, this invention relates to a system requiring a unique access signal from a remote signalling device or an input device mounted on a vehicle before the vehicle engine will be activated.
